New Color Mod for FDL Telecine

Date April 12, 2008

It was a good day at Electric Pictures. Our Telecine Engineer suggested a modification to our telecines that will give us even better results from red prints.

By red prints, I mean a film print that has turned to a red or magenta shade. The blue and green layers of color are fading, and to the eye, the print looks red.

The mod is now done on TK1 and I must say I am very impressed. We were running a nice print of a production about Knott’s Berry Farm, located near here, in Buena Park, California. This film had faded pretty severely, and before we made the mod, we could not get very good results, even when using our Da Vinci color corrector.

I had thought that this particular film was beyond rescue. But now I am really excited that we can get such outstanding results.
